The latest rounds of racing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) 2011 short course series stormed into Utah last weekend.  Miller Motorsports Park’s created a brand new track, but it produced very familiar results during Friday’s qualifying.  Rob MacCachren qualified first in the marquee Pro2 Unlimited class in the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck.  Unfortunately, the engine caused Rob concern, so his exceptional crew changed it prior to Saturday’s racing action.

LOORRS rules state that any engine changes between qualifying and racing require the racer to move to the back of the field to prevent any unfair advantages.  This put Rob Mac at the back of Saturday’s race, despite qualifying first.  Rob worked the No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck up to mid-pack by the middle of the race, but contact with Greg Adler shortly before the competition yellow found himself at the back of the pack.   Without enough time to work his way up to the front of the thirteen truck field, MacCachren finished seventh.

On Sunday, MacCachren made his presence known early by once again qualifying first.  With the two-row inversion he started on the second row, but soon he was threatening for the lead.  A spectacular wreck brought the caution flag out, with Greg Adler in the lead and Rob right behind him.  The previous day’s contact was fresh in both of the drivers’ minds.  Rob put the pressure on and Adler was the first to crack, catching a rut and bicycling his truck in turn one, allowing the No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck to take the lead.  Rob Mac maintained his leading position through the mandatory caution and looked poised for yet another victory, but his transmission could not match Rob’s hardened determination and let go before the checkers came out.  MacCachren finished ninth, despite setting the fastest la p time in the race.  “It was a frustrating weekend for us,” Rob confessed at the end of the weekend.  “We have the fastest combination in Pro2, but the results did not reflect that this weekend.”

ROCKSTAR Energy’s Rob MacCachren’s next stop takes him to Charlotte, North Carolina on July 22nd and 23rd to race his RAM truck in the TRAXXAS TORC short course series, where he currently leads the Pro 2WD division.  The next LOORRS race weekend takes place on August 6th and 7th at Glen Helen Raceway, where Rob Mac already earned two podium finishes in the marquee Pro2 Unlimited class earlier this season.  Coverage of last weekend’s LOORRS race at Miller Motorsports Park featuring MacCachren’s No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck will air on CBS, the Speed Channel, Versus, and MavTV, so be sure to check your local listings.  For the latest Rob Mac updates visit MacCachren Motorsports’ Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/maccachren21.
