MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 18, 2011) – After breaking into American Motocross last season with its revolutionary high-definition cameras, MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports, announce GoPro’s return for 2011 and beyond as an official supporter of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

GoPro’s HD HERO line of cameras and accessories has transformed the way live action is captured today by introducing a truly unique perspective to the world of motocross. This enables viewers to get a first-hand feel for the rush riders encounter out on the track. After an impressive intro to the sport last season, the leader in HD sports cameras returns on a whole new level, prepared to deliver fresh, new footage for 2011.

“GoPro is very excited to be back as the Official Sports Camera of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship,” said Justin Wilkenfeld, GoPro Director of Sports Marketing. “The series is one of the most dynamic and grueling race series on the planet and we are proud to support both the riders and the sport. We feel that the rugged and versatile design of the GoPro cameras along with the high-quality images they capture are a perfect fit for the physically demanding nature of professional motocross racing.”

GoPro’s attendance at the track will be stronger than ever as several riders will be sporting the pocket-sized HD HERO cameras on their helmets at any given round. Additionally, several of GoPro’s professional shooters will capture one-of-a-kind perspectives as the world’s best motocross riders go bar-to-bar throughout the summer. In an effort to increase their support of American Motocross, GoPro will bring a wider viewership to the sport and the series through unique GoPro-produced content that will be distributed through the brand’s social media platform and at the MX video channel on GoPro.com. Having already established itself as a strong presence within the action sports industry, GoPro fans are familiar with the amazing and unique shots that the HD HERO can deliver. Now, they will have a chance to enjoy a fresh look at motocross and possibly discover a new passion for the sport.

“It is great to have GoPro renew their partnership with the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship for an additional three years,” said Alli’s GM of Strategic Partnerships Mark Carter. “Their products have been bringing our sport a great perspective in capturing the intense racing action of this series and we look forward to utilizing their developing technologies in the years ahead.”
