The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) kicked off the 2010 show in style, announcing the winners of the New Products Showcase Awards at the New Products Awards Breakfast held at the start of the week at the 2010 SEMA Show. SEMA recognizes products featured in the showcase section by awarding the “the most cutting-edge automotive products” that are either already available to consumers or are about to hit the market. Although SEMA wasn’t able to confirm the total number of entries just yet, for the 2010 show there were more than 2,000 new products submitted from over 1900 companies, which is close to breaking the record for most entries in the showcase.

“The New Products Showcase is arguably the single best, most effective tool exhibitors have to reach the largest audience possible,” said SEMA Vice President of Communication and Events Peter MacGillivray. “It’s not just about showcasing the product in a prominent area at the Show, it’s also about maximizing the exposure throughout the year.”

Criteria that ranked high on the judges’ selection for the New Product Showcase Awards included superiority of innovation, technical achievement, quality and workmanship, consumer appeal and marketability.
