Mercedes recently unveiled a concept vehicle that’s a military-grade version of its G-Wagon at the Eurosatory defense expo in France. It is called the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle 6.X CONCEPT.

Highlights of this unique concept vehicle include a powerful diesel engine that can move this heavyweight up to almost 100 mph, while transporting 1.3 tons of cargo. The short wheelbase and cockpit-adjustable shock absorbers on the lifted suspension provide 450mm (17.7-inches) of ground clearance, with an approach angle of 50 degrees and a departure angle of 45 degrees. There’s also an armored plate system where the pieces can be quickly replace when damaged, not to mention a “mine deflector” underbelly.

Hopefully Mercedes will haul this thing out for SEMA, but we’re not holding our breath yet. For more info on the vehicle (and more pictures), check out the story on AutoGuide.com.
