Earlier
this year, a group of Carson, Calif. firemen watched Dana
Brown's Baja 1000 documentary movie Dust to Glory. They were
so inspired by the story of Eric Solarzano and his Class 11
VW sedan that many of them decided to build a car of their
own and enter in this year's Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.
Named
Full House Racing, the team from Carson, Calif.'s, Firehouse
116 decided to add to their inspirational story by starting
the Baja Rescue Project. It was a concept that centered upon
their donating a much needed "Jaws of Life" unit to their
fellow fireman in Ensenada, Baja, Mexico, the starting location
for this year's race. News of the effort soon generated even
more donations, and now they will deliver two additional "Jaws
of Life" units to the people of Baja Sur, where the race ends.
This
fire truck-themed Class 11 VW sedan was built at Carson Firehouse
116 by the heroic men that staff this Los Angeles county facility.
When word of their rookie Baja 1000 effort spread, a host
of local and off-road industry supporters came to their aid
to insure the Baja Rescue Project was a success. Sponsors:
