MEDINA, MN (December 13, 2005) - The 2006 Polaris HO Fusion staked its claim as the quickest snowmobile in the highly popular and competitive 600 class as it faced challengers from every competitive brand and posted the best quarter-mile times at the Old Forge Shootout in Woodgate, N.Y. The event, which is officially called the Snow Week/DynoTech Research Adirondack Shootout, was held Dec. 9th as part of the Old Forge Snodeo.

The new 600 HO Fusion is powered by a Polaris LibertyT 600 HO engine that
delivers the quickness and acceleration snowmobilers need to lead the dash
from corner to corner on the trail or on the track. This new engine is a liquid-cooled twin that, compared to earlier 600s, produces 19% more horsepower at 6000 RPMs and 9% more at its peak, where it clearly outperforms competitive 600s.

In the Shootout's 600 Stock class for box-stock 600-class models, the Polaris 600 HO Fusion posted the lowest elapsed time (ET), covering a quarter-mile in just 13.287 seconds.

After the sleds completed their 600 Stock runs, they were turned over to area snowmobile dealers for minor adjustments and tuning. The staff of White Lake Polaris-Victory in Woodgate tweaked the 600 HO Fusion's setup and calibration slightly, then sent it back to the dragstrip for the 600 Dealer Prep class runs.

The Polaris 600 HO Fusion was once again the quickest in the quarter-mile and it was the only sled to post an ET of under 13 seconds. The 600 HO-powered sled made quarter-mile runs in 12.826 seconds and 12.855 seconds. Some ompetitive models posted ETs as high as 13.893 seconds in the quarter-mile, where sleds cover a lot of ground in just a tenth of a second.

At the one-eighth-mile speed trap in the 600 Dealer Prep class, the Polaris 600 HO Fusion dominated again and was clocked at 82.42 MPH, the fastest speed of all at that milepost.

The strong showing at Old Forge and a dominating performance at a season-opening oval race show the Polaris 600 HO is the engine of choice for 600-class riders and racers. A race-prepped 600 HO engine recently powered Polaris oval racer Terry Wahl to a runaway Pro Formula 600 victory at the Canadian Power Toboggan Championships in Beausejour, Manitoba.

Polaris 900 Fusion Shows the Muscle of its New Engine The Polaris 900 Fusion with its new four injector Cleanfire LibertyT 900 engine also fared very well in the 900/1000 class at the Shootout, posting impressive speeds and quick elapsed times (ET) even though two of the three competitors the 900 Fusion faced were powered by 1000cc engines.

In the 900/1000 Stock class for box-stock sleds, the Polaris 900 Fusion posted an outstanding ET of 12.671 seconds. In the 900/1000 Dealer Prep Class, the Liberty 900-powered sled was clocked at 95.54 MPH in the quarter-mile, a speed exceeded only by a 1000cc competitor, and it registered a quarter-mile ET of 12.603 seconds.

Polaris LibertyT Power in a Variety of Consumer Models The new Polaris 600 HO engine is the new performance leader in the performance-minded 600 class and it powers three 2006 Polaris snowmobiles: the 600 HO Fusion, 600 HO SwitchBack and 600 HO RMK. This incredible new engine is a 2-stroke twin with Mikuni TM38 flatslide carburetors, high-flow intake and efficient, high-performance "W" reeds. Solenoid-controlled exhaust valves optimize the exhaust flow for maximum power at every throttle setting. What's more, the Liberty 600 HO is 15% cleaner than the industry baseline and is EPA-compliant.

Its big brother, the new Liberty 900 engine is no slouch either. This engine's new CleanfireT injection system has four injectors, two in the cylinders for outstanding low-speed performance and two in the crankcase for strong top-end power. The engine delivers easy starting, great throttle response and long-riding fuel economy. Plus, it recalibrates automatically in response to changes in factors such as temperature and elevation. The new Liberty 900 engine is used in three 2006 Polaris snowmobiles: the 900 Fusion, 900 SwitchBack and 900 RMK.
