                             Cain’s Quest

March 7,2006 - If you love sledding and beautiful scenery, you can count on finding it in Labrador West. Why not experience it all! What would you say to a 1200 km plus trek through spectacular Labrador wilderness. What would you say if I told you that The Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race is full steam ahead with 16 teams now registered to take the challenge? It sounds incredible, but it's true.

Cain's Quest 2006 Racers are as follows:

The excitement begins Friday, March 17 th with the anticipated racer’s parade and opening ceremony.   Don’t miss the thrill of being at the start line 9 am Saturday, March 18 th- Tanya Lake, Labrador City, NL.

The race will begin and end in Labrador City.   On March 18 th, 2006 at 9am, teams will depart Labrador City and make their way through Miron River, Menihek Lake to Wishart Lake.   From there, teams will travel to Churchill Falls, Orma Lake then back to the finish line by way of Churchill Falls, Ranger Lake and Miron River.   Drivers will be required to sign-in at mandatory checkpoints and have rest periods at mandatory layovers.   The entire race is anticipated to last 3-4 days.   

On Friday March 24 th, participants will celebrate with a closing banquet and awards ceremony.

The inaugural race will be covered by SnowTrax Television to be aired next December on the TSN and OLN networks giving Labrador great exposure across North America highlighting Labrador as a premier snowmobiling destination.

In addition to the television coverage, each team will be equipped with satellite tracking devices allowing race and snowmobile enthusiasts to go online and track their favorite team.

This snowmobile endurance race is a natural event for Labrador as snowmobiling has played a significant role in the way of life and development of Labrador.

 It is hoped that Cain’s Quest will become an annual event and expand across Labrador to make it the longest snowmobile endurance race in the world.
