Top 10 Tools for Wrenching on Your ATV or UTV

Sep. 16, 2013 By Seth Fargher
Ask any guy what his 10 favorite tools are and you’ll probably get 10 different answers.  Everyone tends to have a different way of doing things and there is certainly no standard for the best tools to use when it comes to working on your ATV.  However, having the right tool can make even the most difficult tasks a little more bearable. Below is my top ten list of must have tools for working on an ATV. Just to be clear, this is aside from your standard issue tools that most would expect to find in everyone’s toolbox. Is there anything you would add to the list? Add your favorite tool in the comment section at the bottom of the page.

Tire Spoons
Some people prefer to leave tire changing up to their local dealer. But if you can why not save money and change the tires yourself. A good quality set of tires spoons will make your life so much easier in the event that you end up mounting or dismounting a tire. Then, of course, there are always those unplanned instances when you blow a tire off the rim and need to remove it to clean out sand or debris. Having some quality tire spoons will save you from trying to use a screw driver or some other tool that wasn’t meant for the job.

Tire Gauge
Not all tire gauges are created equal. This particular model shown is a little bit on the luxury side, but for anyone who mounts and dismounts tires with any sort of frequency, a high-quality tire gauge with a pressure relief valve and a large liquid filled dial gauge will change your life. Okay, maybe it won’t change your life, but going back to the little pen-style gauges or the hokie little ones that come in the manufacturer-supplied toolkit will make you feel like you stepped back in time.
