Location Name: City Lake Trails and Lake Wedington Trails
Type of Riding Place: Trails
Location (closest city): SILOAM SPRINGS and GENTRY, AR USA
Details: CITY LAKE TRAILS: Heavily wooded trails, a small creek about three miles long with trails looping and twisting around. The trail system is a mediokre type trail. Ruts and many fallen trees accomadate the trails. Usually muddy after rains, you will usually see other ATV'ers and off-roadersin all the four seasons. The creek runs into the lake, it is a fairly small lake. You can fish and hunt there if you feel like, it isn't in a natioal forest and none of the fish and game commision rangers go out there. Adults will find the trails pretty easy, kids will have plenty of fun zooming down the narrow trails. All in all it's a fun place.

LAKE WEDINGTON TRAILS: These are the most difficult trails I've ridden in my life. You are in the Ozark National Forest
surrounded by wildlife and plenty of wooded areas. The system is very challenging. There is about 450 acres of riding space so if you get lost well you're screwed. Dress well for the occasion because you will probably get thrown off your machine. You must cross the Illinois River to get to the other side. It takes almost a whole day to get through so start early. Take a few buddies with you jsut incase you get stuck. The first time I rode the trail there I took a 2-wheel drive Banshee. Definitly take a 4-wheel drive ATV or a 2-wheel drive with a winch. Have fun. You can contact me or my friend.

Location Name: Pismo Dunes OHV
Type of Riding Place: Dunes
Location (closest city): Grover City, CA USA
Details: Approx. 2500 acres of dune running fun. Several small hill climbs (nothing like Glamis), Comp Hill is the most popular. Can be busy on holiday weekends. Best time to go is in the Fall. Summer brings fog and usually afternoon wind but is is rideable, (and fun) all year around.

Camping is available on the beach. You must have a vehicle that is capable of driving on sand in order to make it to the ride spot. And beware of one creek crossing. It can be treacherous during the rainy months and during high tide. There have been many a swamped vehicle with high tow out costs in this area. Even so, most duners bring their motor homes and trialers onto the beach. If you are unsure of how your vehicle will do, you can prepay one of the tow companies to take you in and back out. It is much cheaper than calling them after you get stuck. $7/night camping fee. Reservations can be made through MISTIX (800)444-7275 but are almost never necessary. Quad rentals are available through BJ Rentals (805) 481 5411.

See Thanksgiving at Pismo for a past trip report.
How to get there:Located south of San Luis Obispo off of highway 101. Take the Grand Ave. Exit. and head west. Go about 10 blocks. Turn Left right after the train tracks onto highway 1. Turn Right on Pier Ave. This will lead you right to the park entrance.

Area scenery ranges from high mountain vistas, to steep canyons w/ river crossings to beautiful meadows. Trails range from level semi-maintained dirt/gravel logging roads with 60mph sweeping turns to very difficult hill climbs with helmet sized and larger rocks and boulders strewn throughout. Area is VERY large with hundreds of miles of criss-crossing trails and fire roads and is easy to loose your bearings, even with a map. You can camp/ride all weekend and never see another soul. Un-improved camping is permitted any where you find a spot, although a fire permit is required and I urge you to leave the area as you found it. Please Tread Lightly. No fees are required.

No Fees, however the land is owned by the Muddox Corporation which allows public, at-your-own-risk riding providing people don't dump their trash everywhere and act responsibly.
