Polaris recently announced updates to the 2015 RZR XP 1000 and RZR XP 4 1000, which is highlighted by an increase in horsepower output that puts the RZR 1000 models 110 horsepower.

Polaris first introduced its RZR XP 1000 last year powered by its all-new ProStar 1000 engine that boasted an industry-leading 107 horsepower output thanks to its 999cc displacement. This year, Polaris pushed the envelope a bit farther to provide an additional few horsepower to push the RZR even further to hit the 110-hp mark.

“As always, RZR has been the leader of recreational side-by-sides due to their ultimate combination of power, suspension and agility,” said Craig Scanlon, general manager of Polaris Side-by-Side Vehicles. “Even though we just launched the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 last year, we’re always looking to improve upon every aspect of our vehicles’ performance.”

Polaris updated its ProStar 1000 motor with new calibration, high-output cams, stiffer valve springs and a higher compression ratio of 11:1. As Polaris notes, the new 110-horsepower figure increases the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 to be more than 9 percent more than the next closest side-by-side. Other updates to the 2015 models include a revised exhaust system that incorporates closed-loop control and catalyst technology, which is designed to aid in power increase as well as provide cleaner and more efficient operation. To compliment the power improvement, the 2015 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 will feature new direct flow intake covers, a new belt and a new clutch cover, and more ducting to double the airflow to keep to the clutches cool.

For 2015, The RZR XP 1000 will be offered in color combinations that include Havasu Red Pearl and Voodoo Blue and White Lightning, while the RZR XP 4 1000 will be available in Havasu Red Pearl and Voodoo Blue. The 2015 units will all feature standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and will be available in dealerships starting in July.
