Honda Announces New and Updated 2014 Off-Road Models
Honda enters 2014 with new models and updates to its lineup – and apparently the company isn’t done (see below). For now, though, two new CRF125F models and updates to its FourTrax Rancher and Foreman lines highlight the changes.
“For this 2014 model announcement, Honda is continuing its push to bring new and diverse machines to market while also delivering great value,” said Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. “Here we’re unveiling a new generation of our hugely popular FourTrax Rancher and FourTrax Foreman lines of ATVs with completely new frames, suspension, styling and more for elevated levels of performance. We’re also introducing two versions of the all-new CRF125F that features an electric-start engine along with two different wheel sizes to replace the CRF80 and CRF100F. The CRF125F offers an increase in engine displacement and a friendly, easy-to-use powerband, but also aggressive new styling and a brand-new chassis with upgraded front and rear suspension for optimum performance.
“These new models, along with additional Honda favorites returning for the new model year, demonstrate Honda’s commitment to providing more choices to our customers, and we’ll be introducing more exciting new models in the coming months as Honda continues to lead the expansion of the powersports market.”
For 2014, Honda will offer two new larger-displacement 2014 CRF125F models, with the main difference between the two models is two different wheel sizes, which Honda says allows them to replace the CRF80F and CRF100F. Honda notes the CRF125F has a seat height of 28.9 inches (the same as the CRF80F it replaces), while the CRF125F Big Wheel features a seat height of 30.9 inches—the same as the CRF100F it replaces. Honda also outfitted the new 125s with an all-new electric-start for the single-cylinder OHC four-stroke engine, which is paired with a four-speed gearbox. Honda has released pricing on the 125s, with the standard CRF125F carrying an MSRP of $2799, while the Big Wheel model has an MSRP of $3199. The bikes are available in red and will be available in dealership in September.
Honda made major changes to its or 2014 Rancher line, including an all-new chassis with a redesigned frame. Honda also outfitted the Rancher line with suspension with more travel. Honda has not yet provided the specific change in travel, but it will certainly be more than the 6.3 inches of travel (front and rear) on the ’13 model. The new chassis also gets new bodywork that provides a more aggressive appearance, says Honda. Honda will still offer multiple model options in the line, including the 4WD FourTrax Rancher 4x4 ES (which features Honda’s Electric Shift Program), the 4WD FourTrax Rancher Automatic DCT (featuring Honda’s five-speed Dual Clutch Transmission that also gives the rider the option of ESP mode), as well as two-wheel-drive Rancher available in manual or electric shift. The units will be in dealers later in the fall, and the color options include Honda Phantom Camo, Olive, Red, and Orange.
Much like the Rancher line, Honda’s 2014 FourTrax Foremans feature an all-new chassis, suspension and styling, but a new locking front differential is also found on the Foremans. Model options include the FourTrax Foreman 4x4 ES and the manual-shift FourTrax Foreman 4x4 (EPS is an option on both models). The 2014 models will also be available in fall, and colors includes Honda Phantom Camo, Olive, Red, and Blue.
Returning to the Honda dirt bike lineup are a number of popular bikes, including the CRF50F ($1399; available in October), the CRF110F ($1999, available in October), the CRF150F (price TBD, available in September), CRF230F ($4170, available in August), CRF450X (price TBD, available in October). Returning to the FourTrax line of ATVS are the TRX90X (price TBD, available in September), TRX250X ($4499, available in November), TRX400X (price TBD, available in December), TRX450R
