black hills utv rallyNothing beats the feeling of leaving every day life behind and heading out on the open road for a riding trip. On ATV or UTV trips you can meet new people, see some great sights and experience new things. It’s always an adventure. We are just weeks away from leaving for the 2008 Black Hills UTV Rally, and we can't wait. Sure, high gas prices suck, but it will take more than that to deny us of an epic adventure to South Dakota.

The Rally is being hosted at Top 50 Rally Park just off of I-90 between Rapid City and Sturgis South Dakota. The park will open for camping on Thursday August 28 th.

Friday is the official start of the Rally with a welcome presentation at 9 am where the schedule, events and rules will be explained. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there will be four guided rides per day. The guided rides will each go on a different route with terrain ranging from rocky climbs to gravel roads and about everything else in between. The guided rides will leave in the morning and return in the afternoon with a lunch stop at a sponsored location. Some of the lunch stops will be restaurants where participants can get lunch. One of the sponsored locations is a cave where you can get guided tours. After the guided tours return to the Park there will be a host of evening entertainment.

They all sound very entertaining and we'll definitely be there with cameras in hand to capture it all.

If you are in the market for a new Side x Side or ATV but would like to try one out before shelling out your hard-earned cash, there will be demo rides available from Kawasaki, Yamaha, Kymco and Arctic Cat. And we have heard rumors that Arctic Cat will have their new Prowler 1000 there. If they do, we might try and take it for a ride when nobody is looking...

From what we hear the riding in this part of the country is awesome with an almost endless system of trails. And the guided trail rides are a great opportunity to get out on the trails without the fear of getting lost - Good news for those of us who are a bit geographically challenged.

The Black Hills UTV Rally is organized in conjunction with the Off Road Riders Assocation ORA. Some of the profits from the event go to ORA to fight trail closures and for maintaining trails.

This will be Off-Road.com’s first year of attendance at the Black Hills UTV Rally so we aren’t exactly sure what we are getting into. But from what we hear there will be about a thousand UTV owners and about 3,000 miles of trails, so we can't really go wrong. We will be there every day out on the trails and at the events shooting pictures and video.

So if you are going to be there make sure you come say "hi" and get some free stickers. And make sure you check back on Off-Road.com afterwards to see our coverage of the 2008 Black Hills UTV Rally. Its only weeks away and I can’t wait.

See you there!
