2003 Kawasaki Mohave ATV

Oct. 01, 2005 By ORC STAFF
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., announced that while it plans to unveil several new model all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) for 2003, the Good Times™ company will continue to sell the venerable Mojave sport ATV in response to enthusiasts who want off-highway fun and performance at a relatively low price.

"The Mojave continues to sell quite well, partially because it has some very advanced features for an entry-level sport ATV," said Vince Iorio, marketing manager for Kawasaki. "So while Kawasaki will continue to introduce new, cutting-edge ATVs, we'll also keep selling models like the Mojave because it offers consumers so much value for the dollar."

The heart of the adult-sized Mojave is a 249cc, DOHC four-stroke engine. A semi-flat slide carburetor and four valves provide maximum breathing, while liquid-cooling keeps the engine operating at optimal temperature. The Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release (KACR) makes kick starts easy, and the engine balancer provides smooth power from idle to redline.

Transferring the Mojave's usable power to the rear wheels is a five-speed-plus-reverse manual transmission that enables the sport rider to keep the Mojave in the power band. Final drive is provided by a lightweight, high-performance O-ring chain.

Stopping power is provided by triple disc brakes. For maximum traction over a variety of trail or track conditions, the Mojave features dual A-arm front suspension with two adjustable shocks and nearly seven inches of travel, while rear suspension duties are handled by a motocross-type swingarm with a five-way adjustable shock.

With a short wheelbase of 44.3 inches and an overall width of 42.9 inches, the Mojave excels on tight trails and where riding conditions demand an ATV that is both lithe and responsive.

Available in Kawasaki Lime Green, the Mojave has a suggested retail price of $4,099 and comes with a six-month warranty that can be extended up to three additional years.

Information about the Mojave ATV and Kawasaki's complete line of family recreational products can be found on the Internet at www.Kawasaki.com. Kawasaki ATV accessories can also be purchased online at www.BuyKawasaki.com.

As with all off-highway vehicle recreation, Kawasaki encourages ATV riders to ride responsibly. Kawasaki will pay first-time ATV buyers of a new Kawasaki ATV $100 for completing an ATV rider safety course conducted by the ATV Safety Institute (call toll-free 800-887-2887).

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., is the wholesale distributor of JET SKI® watercraft, ATVs, MULE™ utility vehicles, portable generators, power products, and motorcycles. The product lines are sold through a network of independent retailers. The company employs more than 600 people in the United States, with nearly 400 of them located at the Irvine, Calif., headquarters.
