2003 Kawasaki KFX 50 ATV

Jul. 01, 2002 By Press Release
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., has greatly expanded the "Let the good times roll™" message to families who enjoy off-highway recreation and trail riding by unveiling the new KFX50 youth model all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

The KFX50 is a child-sized ATV for riders ages 6-11 and older, and boasts a wealth of features that offer fun, dependability, exceptional value and parent-monitored controls to families who enjoy being together in the great outdoors.

"We're very excited to add the KFX50 to the Kawasaki ATV lineup," said Vince Iorio, ATV marketing manager for Kawasaki. "Our child-sized KX motorcycles and especially the new KLX110 are extraordinarily popular with families, so we expect the KFX50 to be just as popular, if not more so, simply because ATVs have such broad appeal in the U.S."

The KFX50 is powered by an air-cooled 49cc, two-stroke engine that features automatic oil injection, so premixing fuel is unnecessary. Safety features include a built-in throttle limiter so parents can regulate speed, as well as an ignition cut-off tether that stops the engine.

The engine rides in a steel frame and power is transferred to the rear wheels by lightweight chain drive. Suspension duties are handled by A-arm front suspension with dual shocks and a single-shock swingarm on the rear, while stopping power is provided by front and rear drum brakes.

Other features include full-sized floorboards for confidence and safety, one-piece 7-inch wheels, 2.6-liter fuel tank, and a simple seat latch that provides quick and easy access to the air cleaner.

Available in Kawasaki Lime Green, the KFX50 has a suggested retail price of $1,799 and comes with a six-month warranty that can be extended up to three additional years.

Information about the KFX50 and Kawasaki's complete family of recreational products can be found on www.Kawasaki.com. And by logging onto www.BuyKawasaki.com, parents can buy accessories such a clothing and riding gear online with the support of a local Kawasaki dealer.

As with any youth-model ATV or motorcycle, Kawasaki strongly encourages direct parental supervision when children are riding. Families who have never experienced ATVing can call Kawasaki toll-free at 1-877-KAWI-ATV or visit the website for information on how to get started. Because Kawasaki believes in safe operation of off-highway vehicles, it will pay first-time Kawasaki ATV purchasers $100 to complete an ATV instruction course provided by the ATV Safety Institute (call toll-free 800-887-2887).

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., is the wholesale distributor of JET SKI® watercraft, ATVs, MULE™ utility vehicles, portable generators, power products, and motorcycles. The product lines are sold through a network of independent retailers. The company employs more than 600 people in the United States, with nearly 400 of them located at the Irvine, Calif., headquarters.
