2002 Cannondale ATV Lineup: The Journey Begins Here!

Feb. 01, 2002 By Fidel Gonzales
The 2002 Cannondale ATV lineup looks to be a formidable competitor in the world of ATV competition for 2002. For one, Cannondale is pushing its way onto the GNC motocross and TT circuits with its fuel-injected Moto 440, a quad outfitted with a plethora of competition components straight off the showroom floor and boasting a whopping rev limit of 11,600 RPMs. To launch Cannondale's first ever factory sponsorship gig, the Cannon has handed over its race effort to the formidable Nac's Racing, spearheaded by none other than Jim Naccarato. The 375 pound Moto will compete in the GNC and TT events under the name Nac's/Cannondale. “It’s absolutely fantastic to see an ATV manufacturer finally support the sport at this level, first by offering truly race-ready machines, and now through team sponsorship,” said Naccarato. “It’s long overdue. And to have it be an American manufacturer that first steps up to the plate is the icing on the cake for us.”

Cannondale's founder and president Joe Montgomery jumped into the dirt with this statement: “We’re very, very fortunate to be teaming up with such a well-respected company." The other quad in the Cannondale lineup to see action in the dirt will be the Blaze 440. Its primary service call will be in the GNCC events, where Off-Road.com will provide extended ATV coverage for the 2002 season.

What about Baja and the deserts out West?

In addition, Off-Road.com will extend its coverage to include the WORCS, Best in the Desert and the notorious SCORE Baja events of the West.

The Ride

As for how the fuel-injected quads stand up to countless hours of testing, that remains to be scene. ORC is awaiting their arrival! And when they arrive, we'll shake them down and set some seasoned veterans on the seat and see how they perform in comparison to other quads. For starters, we'd like to see what the guys of Team Alba Racing and Duncan Racing's Doug Eichner and John Gregory have to say about the four-wheeled monsters and see what they can come up with in terms of aftermarket products and what they can do to tweak mega performance out of the relatively new rigs Canondale has introduced to the performance ATV world.
