The
Toyota Prado is my current 4x4. It is a Landcruiser 90 Series, or, from
the model number above, technically a 95 series Land Cruiser. The
Australian model name is a "RV6". Externally it is fitted with
a TJM bull-bar and Toyota optional flares. The RIMS are the 7 inch ones
from the GXL model Prado, fitted with 265/75R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain
T/A tyres. |
Hi
my name is Chris, I live in Costa Rica and this is my HJ-45 Cruiser.
It's my daily driver and work truck. It has a 12,000lb winch but all the
rest is stock even the wheels. I just purchased a used stock bed to
replace the wooden one. The bed has minor rust, but needs lots of work
to straightened out the dents. My future plans are to overhaul the six
cylinder Diesel engine, put the stock bed, nice wheels, and Dark forrest-green
paint. |

Here
is a picture of a 1957 FJ25 from El Salvador. She was driven up to
Tucson, AZ from Central America in 1986, and she sat until I bought her
in September 1997 and trailered her up to Scottsdale, AZ.
Apparently the top was burned off in a jungle fire on the way up!
She's mostly stock with a few mods (alternator, taillights, steering
wheel, and mirrors), but mostly it's all there. She idles fine,
but she hasn't been out for a drive yet. Needless to say, parts
are hard to find, but I'm hoping to get her running well in time for
summer. -- Eric Madsen |
Tis
is my 67 fj-45. I have built a Chevy 383 Stroker to drop in it. plan to
lift it 4-6 inches using a spring over conversion. I have 35inch
Swampers on chevy 6 hole rally wheels. I plan on painting it Camo. --

Hi,
My name is Chris Haddakin and I live in Hemet, California. The pictures
are of my now ex , blue 76 Fj-40, which is pretty much all stock except
for the wheels. This picture was taken during Thanksgiving 1996 near
Camalu, Baja Mexico on the pacific ocean side, it is about 150 miles
south of the border. The other cruiser is a 74 Fj-40 and has recently
received a chevy 350 with a Edelbrock performer and a 600cfm Weber. It
also received from a s-10, saginaw power steering which I really love.
The interior is not pretty but I never was into good housekeeping
anyways. This picture was taken in Idywild California Jan 1997. I also
have a 1964 Fj-40 which needs an engine and a little love. I am TLCA
member #5096 |
I
own this '73 FJ40 which I did a frame up rebuild on about a year ago. It
has a 350/TH350 conversion and a 2" lift with 33X12.50X15 rubber on
15x10 white spokes. An Audiovox sound system provides the tunes during
off road excursions in SW Virginia. Full doors were installed and
diamond plate to go with the gunmetal grey paint. --James Ratliff |
It
has been a family car for a while until 1989 when my older sister killed
it by adding ice water in the radiator to make it overheat less. bad
move. It was diagnosed with a cracked block of course. When I turned 16
in 1996 I started looking at it... After about 9 months of weekend
engine work, me and my dad got it working. We figure we replaced
everything except for the transmission. It is still untouched. I'm
planning to do some major carburetor work soon. It pretty much kicks
ass. The top is on now due to the rain. It was filling up with rain.
Suprisingly water tight! Anyway I'm the guy on the left. I will get a
better picture soon. This picture was the grand day when the engine
started after 7 years of decay. I Live in Santa Barbara, CA I'm looking
for a club near here or looking to start one. --Toby Atwater |
Hi!
My name is John Barnhart, and I live in Preston, Idaho. TLCA #6239. My
LC started out as a '65 that I bought for $400 in Idaho. I drove it to
PA, where it underwent a frame up in my dad's garage. It is still
basically stock, only it's now a stock '65/'68/'75! The '75 parts =
(axles, 2F motor, dash firewall, etc...). The '68 parts = (windshield,
doors, top, lift gate, etc...). The tub, solid tailgate, fenders, hood,
grill, and frame are all original '68. |
My
TLC is a 1973 FJ55. It was bought brand new in Carson City, NV by our
next door neighbor who was an FBI agent. It was used to chase Drug
dealers etc... I bought it in 1992. --Royal Rose |
Me
and my Cruiser Girl. A younger BJ70. Born in 87. Met her in 96. It was
an instant attraction. Love at first sight. She is sexy, healthy and has
a shapely body. She never had a tummy tuck, or body implants,
transplants of any kind. The only thing she had done was a minor
face-lift and to remove some winter freckles. She has tiger paws and
ocean waves and sea creatures tattooed on her torso. I take her along
everywhere I go except to the cities. She's built for cruising cruising
the highways and the country roads. She gives me great pleasure driving
her. She makes me feel confident when I drove through sleet and snow and
freezing rain. Because of her, I became a member of True North Toyota
Land Cruisers in Ottawa, Canada. --Sam Chan |
Here
is a picture of my '78 J55. It barely ran when I bought it a year ago.
After some basic engine repair including a Holly carb, header and
exhaust system, new clutch and every seal the truck had, it runs like a
top! It is currently undergoing a complete restoration so I'll be
without until about May. My companion, son and I live in Cleveland, TN
which is a few minutes from the Ocoee River. The truck is shown at a
camp site in the Tsali National Forest in Bryson City, NC. Great
mountain biking there! --Gary McConnell |
My
name is Charles Lillo and I live in Davie florida. This is my 1990 FJ62.
This shot was taken in the mountains of north carolina (blowing rock).
She has 180,000 miles on it and still going strong! I love me
cruiser....... Charles Lillo |
Here
is the summer version of my '82 Cruiser. It took me a few years to find
a decent one here in the rusty east, but she's pretty solid. You can see
her tooling around in Alexandria, VA and vicinity. After a year of work,
she's a great daily driver. Stock in-line 6 w/110K (all compressions
around 160) which runs like a top. New OME suspension and stabilizer,
Jacobs ignition and wires (jury's still out), new in/ex manifold, new
clutch master and slave, new stock exhaust from EGR on back, new brakes
and E-brake lines, Auburn LSD in front, Procar seats, new K-line soft
top for summer wear, continuous undercoating for winter and a tune up.
Great ride off and on the road! After I add power steering, get some
better 32" sneakers and take care of a little cancer on the driver
side fender and rear wheel well, I'll have the beast I'd planned. Wife,
kid, Cruiser; in what order?! TLCA member # 6266. --Darrell Jervey |
This
is my 74 cruiser on top of Cinnamon Pass near Lake City, Colorado. It is
powered by a newly rebuilt 350 with an Edelbrock intake and carb. A
Black Magic electric fan keeps it cool when it is crawling over steep,
rocky trails in the mountains of Colorado. It has Flowmaster mufflers
and the BFG's are 32 inches tall and 11.50 inches wide. Everything else
is stock. I soon hope to find a hardtop for it and get it painted white.

This
is a picture of my 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 at the local wheeling
spot, in New Jersey. When I brought the truck it only had 93,000 miles
on it and was completely stock. I've since upgraded to OLD MAN EMU
suspension, the best!! Soon to be added are 32x11.5 BFG AT's tires,a
GPS, and maybe a locker for good measure. The truck is rust-free, and I
love it. I also own a 1972 Toy FJ40, and a '91 Toy 4x4 pick up, TOYOTAS

This
is one of my '78 FJ55s This was taken on Permenente Road in Kings River
Valley Alaska. At that time it was equipped with a 2F (F head, 9.8:1
compression, electronic ignition, electric fan, Offenhauser intake,
Carter AFB carburetor, 6 into 1 header), dual alternators, and
batteries. It sat 4-5 inches over stock with custom springs and 35x12.5
M/Ts, 4 speed, stock gearing and lockrights, 2 wheel low enabled, and
sway bar disconnects. A Braden 10,000# (severely under rated) PTO winch
adorns the custom heavy duty (and bobbed) front bumper. The rear bumper
(4 inch square tube like the front) carries the spare tireand a jerry
can. The 5x8 roofrack carries 2 jerry cans, axe, pick, shovel and maule,
2 150 foot coils of 3/8 inch cable, winch anchor stakes, and auxillary
lighting and antennas. Other than these additions and modifications the
rig was basically stock when this was taken. The cargo area is of
coursefilled with a complete and comprehensive slection of tools and
spare parts for our trips into the Alaskan backcountry My favorite areas
to travel and explore are the foothills and valleys of the Talkeetna
Mountains, and I spend as much time there as possible. This rig is
currently parked for major mods. --Mark Whatley, Palmer Alaska |
Here
is my 1969 Cruiser..this is a old picture ut I have just put some
32-11.50 Wild Country RTV's on a some real old solid chrome Chevy wheels
without a lift. I am going to put a 1.5 shackle lift on the front and a
2 inch shakle lift on the back to eliminate the sagging. I am going to
do a custom carpet job with help from my mom and I am trying to find a
some bucket seats for the front that will work without to much trouble a
new paint job will most likly be done by me and my friend. Any hints
would me most greatly appreciated. --Cory Preatt |
My
Name is Gregg Jarvis and I live in about 30 miles nort of New York City.
These are my various Toys. The yellow cruiser is a 75 FJ40 with full
cage, rear locker,350 cvy mounted to stock 4 spd. It was a half done
mission so i bought it a few months ago for $1100 to get road and trail
worthy by summer 98. Also had LCAH kit on front end as bonus. Plus extra
set of four perfect doors. The 85 4-runner on the left is last of the
solid front axle guys . It is now near perfect with Wet Okole seat
covers, Dynomax, slammin Sony System and smittybuilt all around. Top is
off during summer, new yellowpaint and some body work this fall.
Needlesstosay, it does not see much trail travel. That's left to my Red
1982 FJ40, Full cage , locked in rear. Engine rebuild currently going on
and LSD in front,-lots of body fixes to follow. Its hard to find any
toys like these not shot to hell due to our festive weather conditions.
Very hard to keep them in this shape. It is worth living here however
when you experience all of NYC's beauty from from the top of a trail. |
My

Time
to update, This is my 69' Cruiser and it's new coat of paint, see I told
you I would do it. The Cruiser has it's original "F"
engine,Disc Brakes all around with ARB AirLockers both Front and Rear
with 4.11 gears and a 3 speed transmission, Leather Bucket seats, a
Ramsey RE 8000 Winch, A center console housing a 50 watt, AM/FM Tape
deck, Uniden CB Radio, 45 Watt, Kenwood 2 Meter Ham Radio, 100 watt,

water tight box for those river crossings I'm so fond of. I have dual
130 watt,KC's up front for night runs with Auteroche Headlights. My
Cruiser has 33x12.50 Big "O" tires on 7" American spoke
rims, I have Liquid bedliner in the floorboards and bed to reduce the
screams when I pile my friends in it in our 103 degree Texas summer
heat. Future plans are wanting to put Super Swamper Boggers on and beef
up the suspension, and when and if the 6 cylinder dies, a V-8 is waiting
in my shop to occupy that space, still not sure on how to do it, but I
learn as I go and always welcome comments. If you're ever in the Uvalde,
Texas area, drop me a line and we'll do some river runnin', and just in
case your worried, nobody ever stays stuck. --Rick Jones |
This
is my truck, a 1983 BJ40 with a blueprinted and balanced 1B diesel
engine with all original parts, new pistons and liners, new ignition
chambers, a new camshaft, new bearings. I rebuilt it from the ground up.
Scraped the chassis clean, painted it with black epoxy paint. An
ironsmith, locally known as "latero" or one who works on
"lata" [metal] fashioned out two whole front fenders from
gauge 16 black iron, two rear wheelwells from gauge 16 galvanized
sheeting and the bottom half of the driver's door out of the same gauge
16 sheeting. We rearched the springs and fit in 33x15 Yokohama Super
Diggers. All upholstery is in the original gray soft vinyl material.
Painted all body parts with 12 coats of a light yellow Anzahl
Polyurethane paint closed with five coats of clear urethane. Added front
disc brakes, vacuum transfer, diesel sedimentor, 6-pass oil cooler,
Cibie replacement headlights made in Belgium, Cibie 90w/100w bulbs, a
pair of amber Cibie driving lights with 100w bulbs, 75amp alternator, an
original Nippondenso compressor and underdash blower, rear mounted
condenser with an aux fan, 12 volt air compressor from a 10-wheel dump
truck connected to a 20 gallon 180psi tank from a "6x6";
homemade "cyclone" like attachment inside the tube going to
the manifold; Pioneer head, Sony CD, Proline equalizer, Proline booster,
2 Proline front 3-way speakers and two MTX Road Thunder subs in back.
Cross-Country traveling through rivers and mountains. --JING MAGSAYSAY,

Hi
folks! My name is John Kowalewski (good Irish name!), from Montreal,
Quebec, Canada, and here is a picture of my 1982 BJ60LG aka "The
TRRRRRRRuck!" or affectionately known as Andy...or Andrew since his
two tone paint job (thank god I got rid of that ugly orange color!).
Since I got it in July of 1996, a couple of things have been replaced,
namely: clutch, rechromed both bumpers, new windshield, small fender
bender repaired (which wasn't my fault! - honest!), muffler, new tires,
B.F. Goodrich long trail T.As, new mags (Italian ATPs - $35 each at an
auction!), new fan and clutch (the old one just fell off!), etc, etc
(most of these my wife doesn't know about!). The TRRRRRuck has 115,000
km and I use it mainly to show off ;-) apart from that, a little fishing
and hunting of small game in the local provincial parks. Andy is a 4
cylinder diesel somewhat lacking in acceleration to say the least, but
off-road it pulls like a Cat! Future improvements: fix the back-up
lights switch so it doesn't blow the fuse every time I put it in
reverse. This wouldn't be such a big deal but the wipers are on the same
circuit (try remembering not to back up - impossible!), also thinking
about a wench - oops I meant a winch - honest!, and power steering. I'll
keep you informed whether I'm still married by the time I'm done! |
Hello,
My name is Marc Rodriguez - now living in Oklahoma, USA. This is a pic
of my '78 FJ40, lovingly named "Money Pit". I purchsed it in
'95 and have been addicted ever since. Mainly stock, but I added a
steering correction kit, 32" BFGs, and Doesch Tech Pre-Runner
Shocks. Just finished installing a Disk Brake Conversion Kit from Downey
Off-Road (still tweaking it out). The body is finally rust-free
(hopefully forever). I had it painted inside and out with Speedliner
(similar to Line-X, or Diamond Linings). The finish is different to say
the least but so far has proven to be scratch resistant and actually
provides some warmth in the Winters and quiets the ride somewhat. Future
plans are a rebuilt 2F (sitting in the garage awaiting implant) and
either an NV4500 5 speed (with the stock 4.11 diffs) or Marlin Gears
with 3.73 in the diffs.. I am a member of the Green County Cruisers
(based in Tulsa, OK) as well as the TLCA. So far I haven't made any big
trail rides but when the Navy allows me some time off I plan on as many
as I get get to.... Happy Cruisin' !!! |
