The 30 th annual World Championship Hillclimb was held at the Snow King Resort in Jackson WY on April 1 st , 2 nd and 3rd. The World Championship, otherwise known as “The Big Show” seems to get bigger, better and more competitive every year and this race was no exception. Thousands of race fans were in attendance over the weekend enjoying outstanding weather and even better racing action.

Heidi Tobin, Secretary of the Snow Devils said, “I would guess that we had 10,000 to 15,000 spectators each day…..we are still calculating the actual figures. Overall it was a great weekend, the turnout was fabulous, the weather was great, the racers did a great job and our volunteer help was outstanding this year. As always, we had strong support from the Town of Jackson .”

History was made this year at the Jackson Hillclimb, in 30 years of racing, there has never been a woman to go over the top of the race hill at Snow King Mountain- until now. Shilah Brown-Dalebout was the first woman to crest the top of the hill and she did it in a 1.18.58. Shilah was a hometown favorite so it meant a lot to the crowd to see that all her hard work had finally paid off. Shilah was riding a Polaris 600.

#156c Vincent Clark also put on a show race fans are unlikely to soon forget. Vinnie qualified 3 sleds to race on Sunday, Pro 800 Stock, Pro 800 Modified and Pro Open Modified. Clark earned a 2 nd place in the finals of the Pro 800 Stock class by a high mark. In the Pro 800 Modified class, Clark wasn't able to make the hill and did not place.

That didn't stop the racer from coming down off the hill, jumping back on the same sled and taking it to the top with a 59.54 in the Pro Open Modified class. Until Vinnie's run in the Open Mod class, no racer had beat out the minute mark during Sunday finals.

It appeared that Vinnie had that line he had been studying through the top figured out as during the Modified King of the Hill runs, Vinnie again put on a time that beat the minute mark. Now it was time to race for King of Kings. Ski-Doo's Chuck Hogan had the King of the Hill Stock title from his win in the Pro 800 Stock class, Arctic Cat's Todd Tupper had the King of the Hill Improved Stock title from his win in the Pro 700 Improved class and of course Ski-Doo's Vinnie Clark had his Open Modified sled to run from his King of the Hill Modified win. All three racers lined up at the starting line at the bottom of the hill, shook eachother's hand and one by one gave it their all through the moguls, deep holes and trenches at the top of the hill. All 3 made it up and over, #156c Vinnie Clark with the fastest time earning the title of King of Kings at the World Championship.

Both Todd Tupper and Chuck Hogan have had a great year on the RMSHA circuit this year. Ski-Doo's #32 Chuck Hogan won all three King titles at Bear Lake earlier this year. Arctic Cat's #30 Todd Tupper had a win in each of his four classes at the previous RMSHA race, BrianHead.
